I noticed that all my posts were beginning to be boring…mostly because it was the same author over and over (ahem, Jane Feather). So, deciding to branch out to uncharted territories, I picked up two new releases (see post before) from authors new to me.
What we have in Never Resist Temptation is the typical villian on the loose, disguises and inner turmoil of the hero hist-ro plot. Although it would have been better titled: Nothing Sweeter Than You (because he does not have a sweet tooth and she is a patissier) or He Resists Temptation or Funky Fun With Food (I got a little grossed out by the love scenes involving cream filling…), generally I thought this was a solid, entertaining read. I am definitely interested to see what else the author comes up with.
Of course, the ending gets a little silly/sentimental/enough already…just talk to each other! but beyond that, you will find some hot moments, some sweet times, and a lot of interesting recipes for french desserts…
Beautiful, spirited Jacobin de Chastelux would have been the perfect prize for any man . . . but she never imagined one would win her at a game of cards! When she learns that her dissolute, dastardly uncle and guardian had wagered her virtue—and lost—she flees. A cunning disguise and her culinary talents land her in the royal kitchen as a chef. All is well until her uncle is poisoned by one of her desserts. Jacobin must escape again . . . to the home of the very man who won her in that infamous game!
Lord Storrington knows nothing of Jacobin’s true identity. All he knows is that things are heating up—and the sparks aren’t coming from the stove. A delicious ecstasy tempts the scoundrel and the chef . . . one that can only end with sweet, sweet surrender.
