Regency Money

Reader, writer, student, or rabbit hole traveler…you may find at some point you need to understand the value of money from the Regency (or other time period) to today.  As such, I have a few favorite resources I would like to share:

My favorite historical currency converter is from the UK National Archives.  However, it only converts up to 2017.

If you are trying to generally understand the UK pound in relation to the US dollar, but also have that historical conversion, the University of Wyoming has a hand tool to convert the historical GBP to current GBP and then convert into the US dollar.

A website called Measuring Worth has a more complex formula for really understanding the purchasing power of a pound sterling, which is worth a look at.
