I read the other books in the series some time ago and really liked them. so it was little surprise that when I finally found Kat Martin’s Heart of Courage I enjoyed it.
Full of action, suspense, and could character conflict Heart of Courage features a headstrong heroine driven to uncover a series of murders in order to clear her buffoon brother’s name.
At first, I thought I wouldn’t like the hero Thor. He seemed a bit too caricatured for my taste, but slowly you realize that this is the heroine’s perspective. As her mind opens to him, so does Martin’s picture of him finally bringing us a strong and interesting male character that is every bit as complicated as the woman he is drawn to.
I also like how these two characters learn they have to make compromises in order to make their relationship work…how like life…and how like Austen.
Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable series.
