Last year I offered a list of Halloween and Autumn Reg Roms, and thought I would update it this year with some new offerings for those of you who love to celebrate the Season of the Witch!
- Jacquie D’Alessandro – Sleepless at Midnight A midnight book club of ladies reading Frankenstein. This was an entertaining mass market that also had a spine tingling tone. There are two more in the series, but I enjoyed it as a standalone title, too!
- Julie Klassen – The Secret of Pembrooke Park – A gothic style inspiration filled with secret rooms, secret letters, and secret loves. I thoroughly enjoyed this one, and my full review is upcoming.
- Brooklyn Ann – His Ruthless Bite — Vampire lords combined with a marriage of convenience plot make for a sensual paranormal romance. Ann imbues her paranormal Reg Roms with humor and all the right stuff, so readers are sure to laugh and love.
- Ann Radcliffe – The Mysteries of Udolpho Classic “horrid” novel that delights with chills and thrills. Its one of the original Gothic Romances, so we can forgive some of the hand wringing, sobbing and poetry. Its also not very scary, so chickens fear not!
- Charlotte Louise Dolan – The Ghost of Castle Ravenswych The ghost is really a lady in hiding, and the romance is a bit overblown, but this is nonetheless a fun and perfect for Autumn short novella. Its not scary, more suspenseful and I tore through it in an evening, so its a great quickie.
- Night of the Victorian Dead, Book One: Welcome to Romero Park (Night of the Victorian Dead 1)Amber Michelle Cook – Night of the Victorian Dead: Welcome to Romero Park – A Victorian zombie book told in tongue-in-cheek, fast paced fashion. While not my normal cup of tea, this book was entertaining and had me on the edge of my seat. Normal gross zombie stuff.
- Wendy Lyn Watson- Once Upon A Wallflower A Gothic villain, a mystery, and sizzling romance to heat up colder nights. Full review upcoming.
- Anthology – Vexed (The Haunting of Castle Keyvnor #1) First in a series of four books containing 12 novellas, this book takes offerings from Erica Ridley, Ava Stone and Elizabeth Essex that sound delightfully magical, ghostly, and perfect for quick reading! Castles are the perfect setting for a spook fest, and if you find you love this collection there are three more to pick up!
- Anthology – Autumn Masquerade (Timeless Regency Collection) Authors Josi S. Kilpack, Donna Hatch, and Nancy Campbell Allen are the featured authors in this collection of three novellas which focus on clean Regency romance in the Autumn. Rave reviews abound for these novellas, and without the ghosts and goblins (or intimate scenes) they are appropriate for most.
- Rita Boucher – The Would-be Witch – This Signet Regency Romance puts a paranormal spin on the traditional Regency, with a heroine descended from Merlin who learns what real magic is from a skeptic. All the wonderful historical details with a touch of the paranormal to give it a distinct flavor.
