My first Nicola Davidson, I was not disappointed by the short but full of sweet, sexy moments f/f romance. It walks the line between steamy vanilla and hot and spicy, with lots of tender scenes but also a lot of focus on bedroom activities. The first of a series, this novella delivers the romance.
Beatrice has been suffering in silence, in love with her employer who is beautiful and, from the outside, seems like she has a perfect life. Beatrice takes solace in her friendships within the Surrey Sexual Freedom Society…and has learned a lot of pointers that she has no hope of using.
Amelia is trapped in an awful marriage to a complete monster when she discovers her feelings for Beatrice may be more than friendship.
Its short, so there’s not a ton to add without offering spoilers left and right but I can say that both characters are interesting, offer a lot of insight into how lesbian women must have struggled during the Regency era, and that their romance hits the sweet spot of sexy and romantic. What starts as unrequited love smolders into an inferno of feels.
The ending has a brilliant and totally surprising twist that nails the tone Davidson has set.
I recommend this for Regency Readers looking for a satisfying f/f read with both heat and sweet.
