In the November 1820 issue of Ackermann’s Repository, the siderographia and some examples were debuted to a public fascinated by the latest technologies.
Siderography, as we now know it, was developed by Jacob Perkins around 1805 to create banknotes using steel plates that could then be transfered to a steel cylinder in a rolling process. This process was first used for the printing of US bank notes. It was also seen as a method to reduce counterfeiting. The above snipped article gives a good overview of the process and application.
