The Piazza Coffeehouse in Covent Garden, in the northeastern angle of the larger Covent Garden Piazza, was a popular location for dining especially being handy to the theatre. A frequently repeated anecdote had Sheridan sitting at the Piazza during the burning of Drury Lane Theatre in 1809 and remarking: “A Man may surely be allowed to take a glass of wine by his own fireside.” (Timbs, Club Life of London).
The facade and interior were of Gothic design, and was adjoined by the Piazza Hotel, although under separate management until 1828 (https://www.british-history.ac.uk/survey-london/vol36/pp88-89).
An 1802 guide said the Piazza had: “Good soups, dinners, and beds. A well conducted house.”
