Within the last year, we have rolled out two excel based database resources: an early 19th century dictionary/thesaurus and an early 19th century database on major coaching routes/inns/distances/times.
The genesis behind these is our first annual survey (Winter 2020/2021) and your feedback about resources you were interested in. These were a labor of love that we hope are helpful and provide critical information about the lives and world of Regency people.
We have the second annual survey up and available now: https://regrom.com/2021/11/07/regency-reader-website-announcement/ and already your feedback has been incredibly helpful. We have heard you want more on carriage/travel, more on Regency pop culture (new category incoming!), and you were on the hunt for information about the weather in the UK during the early 19th century.
Although the data was limited, using a variety of resources we pulled together another excel database with the mean temperatures in Central England for every month between 1790-1840, as well as a list of significant weather events…and are offering it for free download now:
We hope this resource provides a source of inspiration, historical insight, and enhances your reading, writing, and researching. Consider this our gift to you, amazing Regency Readers, for all your support over the years. Your passion for the Regency era helps fuel our passion, so thank you!
December 1st we will be transitioning the site to a secure https address, and in the meantime are also doing a lot of clean up. We would love your suggestions and input, so please take a few minutes to fill out our survey. One of our goals to is better index (and make searchable) our many Regency romance reviews, as well as continue to provide resources that you want and need. We may be morphing categories to make a bit more sense, based on the way they have evolved over the years, or reducing some content to make room for new material. If you have thoughts beyond the survey questions, feel free to leave a comment below.
If you see any tweaks that you don’t like, please share that feedback with us, too. Our goal with this year’s updates is to improve the website.
All our best,
Anne and Kelly
