Gnoll Castle Estate, in Neath, Wales was originally the holding of the Evans family, who then leased it to the Earl of Pembroke. In the Georgian era, it was owned and improved by the first and second Sir Mackworths, but after the son’s tragic death at only 30 years old in 1794, the estate would be put up for sale.
Henry Grant eventually purchased the estate in 1811 for 100,000 gbp, and lived in Gnoll House until his death in 1832. His son would stay at the estate, later selling off a large portion in 1857.
The house is now in ruins, and the park is now accessible to the public. For more info: http://www.gnollestatecountrypark.co.uk/
