Orme (Edward). An Essay on Transparent Prints, and on Transparencies in General.
Edward Orme was a Regencyย era engraver, publisherย and real estate developer, who made the genre of transparent prints popular through the above advertised titleย (https://www.princeton.edu/~graphicarts/2009/09/edward_ormes_transparent_print.html).ย Author Shannon Selin has a great article on transparencies that even includes an Austen reference to the trend: https://shannonselin.com/2016/10/illuminations-transparencies/.
Some of his paintings and etchings are in the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery, and he served as engraver to King George III (1799-1820) and to Prinny (1799-1830).
