It’s my favorite Season, which I love to celebrate with cozy sweaters, Fall themed rom coms, and a whole lot of mood Regency Romances.
If you have been a Regency Reader for a while, you know I have done a few other top 10s for this theme and those books still stand up to the test of time. Last year’s top 6, this one from 2015 and this one from 2016 are still great lists.
But there is always a new book to explore, and what better Season to curl up with a great, moody gothic or spine tingling Regency (or Regency adjacent) paranormal?!
Here’s a new top 10 historicals to get you in the Autumn mood:
Erica Ridley, Too Wanton To Wed: On the run, Violet seeks shelter in a crumbling abbey with secrets, including a child imprisoned in the dark to save her from an illness..and others. Full of gothic mood and part of a whole series of gothic delights, this has all the passion you are looking for along with mystery and intrigue.
Brooklyn Ann, His Ruthless Bite: Vampires, a marriage of convenience, and intrigue abound in this paranormal Regency. A fun way to play with Regency tropes but with a supernatural flair and get in the Hallow’s Eve mood.
Joan Smith, The Black Diamond: Jane Eyre and Rebecca in one mysterious and easy to read Victorian.
Jackie Williams, A Murderous Masquerade: People love this series, chock full of romance, mystery, and intrigue
M.C. Beaton, The Ghost and Lady Alice: The ghost of a duke Pygmalions a scullery maid…and falls in love in this hilarious paranormal rom com.
Carola Dunn, The Actress and the Rake: Sir Barnabas’s ghost intervenes in this opposites attract.
Stephanie Burgis, Courting Magic: A novella that is part of a series, this young adult has comedic elements and magic.
Alyxandra Harvey, Haunting Violet: Another YA about a heroine who sees ghosts, with mystery elements and friends to lovers.
Collection, Love, One Regency Autumn: This collection of 8 stories are set in Autumn, so big Fall mood!
Arietta Richmond, A Duke in Autumn: Kisses only tale set in Autumn in Bath, part of series.
