This ad appeared in the October 1817 issue of La Belle Assemblée.  I found several other early Victorian era ads from Franks, including this one:

    That was interesting and fun reading. I liked the names given to the hats in the last image. In films I don’t notice the differences in gentleman’s hats beyond that of class or activity or profession. But there’s a pretty big difference between just the four examples of civilian hats at the bottom. I need to pay more attention.
