One feature readers have asked for is to better search our 16+ years of reviews. While we are still working diligently to update past posts with the new book review format, we didn’t want to wait to start testing tools to better help you find the books that you will love.
You will see Books by Plot Type has been nested under the “Reviews” tab in the main menu. We will continue to work to update that, as readers find it helpful. We are also happy to include different tropes or things you are interested in.
We have added “Reviews by Rating” so that you can easily find our favorite books, followed by others in the top star rating range.
Finally, we have created an easy way to sort through reviews by the heat/flame/content level. This will display all the books we have reviewed within each flame category. We have grouped them by two levels but can further separate if that is of interest. For a reminder, here is basis of the flame scale:
Flame ratings are the summation of three category scores (mature content, sexual content, violent content). Any content warnings will be flagged. The general scale is as follows:
0 flames – No mature, sexual, and/or violent content. Appropriate for all ages.
1 flame – Limited mature, sexual, and/or violent content. Appropriate for most ages.
2 flame – A few instances of mature, sexual, and/or violent content.
3 flame – Some mature, sexual, and/or violent content.
4 flame – Mature, sexual, and/or violent content.
5 flame – A significant amount of mature, sexual, and/or violent content.
We are working hard to remove outdated language like “clean” from the blog or “PG” which not a universal rating standard. We have also worked to add a content warning where we felt appropriate, but understand that can be a subjective thing so we need your help to improve our CWs.
We are also happy to take feedback on what helps you find the books you will love. Please feel free to share your feedback in the comments below.
Happy Regency reading,
Anne
