The descriptions and plates of these lovely gowns appeared in the August 1818 issue of La Belle Assemblee. Also included are some general observations on fashion. As the Regency started to give way to the Victorian era, the dresses became more adorned, complex and designed to conceal. These two plates are clear examples that the tides of fashion were beginning to turn towards the tail end of the Regency.
