Regency Reader Year in Review 2018

Oh, what a year its been!

Full of book reviews, Regency Reader Questions, fashion, ads, hot spots and in general all things Regency all the time (or at least 99%).

I wanted to do a recap to reminisce about the year, remind you of all the great content, thank you for your amazing suggestions, comments, and feedback and hopefully encourage you to continue communicating with us (and sharing with others) to grow and nurture the blog.

Every month, there was at least one post with descriptions and plates of Regency fashions.  That’s a whole lot of bonnets, capes, gowns and helpful hints.  I have pinned many of the plates on the Regency Reader fashion pinterest board so if you want all the looks in one place, its a great resource for inspiration.

This year, our Regency Readers kept us busy with a variety of research questions!  From posts on withdrawing rooms and gunshot wounds to cards and courtship, its been a year full of interesting questions from readers and authors trying to understand and/or craft that perfect Regency romance.  Keep your questions coming, we love to hear from you!

One of my personal favorite newer (a couple of years) additions to the blog are posts of Regency advertisements.  With at least two posted a month, these really give a window into Regency life with adverts on everything from velvet painting lessons to lotions and potions.

This year, I have also added a lot more furniture design plates to the Regency Household category (and on the Regency Furniture Pinterest board) to showcase fashionable furniture of the era.

Interesting men and women of the Regency continue to appear as we stumble upon them in our research.  We share science and invention, slang and poetry, health and medicine and the popular category of “hot spots”.

We continue to host a simple version of the Regency name generator, a dictionary, and plots by type.

Our book reviews, from mass market to self published to indie, contain ratings for levels of intimate, mature and violent content to help readers better find their perfect match.

The work here wouldn’t be possible without your readership, sponsorships and communications…so please keep it coming in 2019!  We want to continue to grow the blog, feature new content, new authors, and do deep dives into history.  That means we need to hear from you!  Please leave us a note, send us an email (romanceanne at yahoo dot com), or Tweet at us.  Be sure to follow us on Twitter, too, to participate in the wonderful Regency Twitter community and stay up to date on our posts.

Happy New Year!

Love,

Anne
