This anecdote appeared in the 1823 The Percy Anecdotes.
What an absolute treasure this lady was. Although her advertisement appeared in the papers purportedly in 1717 (The offering, a tribute of friendship) , so well before the Regency era, I couldn’t resist sharing this snippet.
