Leghorn hats are made of straw, typically from an Italian wheat, with wide brims and flat tops. The name comes from Leghorn, Italy. They were platted in the Italian style into braids and then put together in a spiral sequence and typically trimmed with ribbons, flowers, feathers or other furbelows.
