Regency Pastimes: Boxiana, the art of pugilism

In 1810, Pierce Egan (noted sportwriter/journalist) had a series of prizefighting articles published on prize-fighting and boxing.  They were bound up and a first volume, called Boxiana or “The Sweet Science of Bruising”, was published in 1813.  Five more volumes would be published, the last in 1829.

The stories account some of the most epic prizefighting matches from the era, ideas on the sport, history of fighting, tips and tricks…pretty much all you every wanted to know about boxing from the early 19th century.
