Sheraton (1751-1806) was one of the trio of famous English furniture makers in the 18th century (including Chippendale and Hepplewhite).  After moving to London in 1790, Sheraton focused his energy on teaching and consulting. He was influential to other tradesmen through his publications of drawings, sketches, and instructions.

His designs focused on classical architecture elements, feminine design elements, and a refined style which were influential on home decor of the late Georgian/early Regency era.
