    When passion and patience collide.

Joss Melville comes to London to search for Sam Dane, the man she almost eloped with five years before, but he is now a hardened war veteran with a sense of duty but no passion. To hold onto him, she invents the Discreet Detectives and enlists him to save two young women from the clutches of Lord Thaw. Sam forgives himself for the failed elopement and falls in love with Joss again, just before she is kidnapped by Lord Thaw.

Hope is only a thought away.

Jessica Tibbs is a woman of action and capable of shooting the highwayman trying to steal an old lady's jewels. But the thief turns out to be the brother of the man she falls in love with. Harrison Weston is entranced by a penniless girl who is not hopeless, but spirited enough to find solutions to all the problems plaguing him and his estate.

There is no holiday from evil

The last thing you expect at Christmas is a murder, not to mention the attempted murders of Joss’s father and brother, Hugh and Archie. Sam and Joss Dane, the Discreet Detectives, must solve a case close to home before someone they love is killed. Suspects are thin on the ground, but that doesn't matter since they have no evidence and little in the way of motives. As Twelfth Night approaches, no one is feeling safe.
